The Customer
Mike from Hale Performance Coatings reached out to me, letting me know that they needed some changes to existing pages, some new pages, and a site re-design. The last design I did for them was back in 2013, and was definitely showing its age. (see below) They wanted to go back to a site that is primarily black, which can be a tricky color to use for a website, but I came up with a design that made them happy.
The Tools
Their old website was on WordPress, their new website is also on WordPress. So no big change with the site’s back end, but I did move the site’s hosting onto their own WordPress optimized hosting account. The new site is a fresh installation of WordPress where I brought over all of the pages and content with an export/import, then I setup Advanced Custom Fields and Custom Post Types, and finally I had to apply the new design to the site. Finally I added a new employment form to the site to help them accept applicant’s information.
I also suggested some new photographs for the website to show up their facility. I went in and took some photos of their buildings and of the machines used for their different coating processes. I used these photos throughout their website, and also gave them to use for any marketing materials.

The Content
This we definitely the easiest part of this web site’s build. I copied over all of the site’s pages with their content, then I was tasked to make a few changes to existing pages, as well as adding a few pages, and that was basically it. One thing that I had to ad to each page was a Hero Image to help give each page a little bit of a visual component, the last website was feeling like every page was a wall of text. Adding an image to every page makes the site a little easier on the eye.
Final Product
After getting Final Approval from Mike and his boss, we launched the site. They were very happy with the new re-design and the new forms that were added to the site.
